Cookery Technician


Part Time, 30 hours per week

Whitireia New Zealand is seeking a part-time (30 hours per week) Technician to support our Cookery team in the School of Hospitality and Tourism.  In this challenging and varied role you will be responsible for accepting and processing incoming orders, stock control, inventory and supporting tutors in preparing for the delivery of practical cookery classes. Maintaining strict health and safety requirements is a necessary part of this role. You will also be required to update and maintain recipe databases and access requisitions. 

We are looking for someone with:

  • experience working in a commercial or training kitchen
  • a tertiary qualification in hospitality or cookery
  • excellent organisational and planning skills
  • a full drivers licence

This position is based at our Porirua Campus but would require you to work from Kāpiti 1 - 2 days each week.

Full Time Position Fixed Term to Jan 2018 Auckland Based Vacancy ID: 2017-AUCK20
Whitireia Community Polytechnic is a government-owned tertiary education provider. We are currently seeking an experienced administrator to join our Auckland Campus team to a seven month fixed term position. Located in the heart of the CBD and reporting to the Campus Manager, this role is responsible for providing exceptional administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the campus.
In this busy role, you will be involved in a variety of tasks including assisting with organising student orientation, graduations and other campus wide events, acting as the Health and Safety contact for Auckland, arranging travel bookings and providing administrative support for meetings including preparing documents and minute taking. 
Applicants should have:
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite 
  • Ability to plan, organise and coordinate activities/events 
  • Minute taking experience
  • Experience and/or understanding of working with other cultures
  • The ability to work well in a team as well as independently
  • A positive and motivated personality
  • Ability to work well under pressure
